ADVENTURES IN VECTORS

Be the Ice Sculptor was the final assignment in the School of Motion Animation Bootcamp and especially satisfying to me.

Since it was a personal project with no real deadline, I poked around the edges of it for a few weeks, not really diving into it too much. Then I had a ‘common dude, finish this up’ moment, and told myself to complete one card every day. The project was completed to my satisfaction in about 10 days.

This was my first real attempt at vector-style storytelling. The boards, script, and voice-over were all provided by Joey Korenman and the good people over at School of Motion and we were given an unlimited amount of time to complete the project as a final send-off to a job well done. Since the boards were all provided as layered Photoshop files, there was a fair amount of rebuilding the boards as vector files for maximum flexibility.

This project opened me up to an entirely new type of animation that I am very excited to continue working in the genre.
